My Baby? You Decide.

The other day I was sorting through a few items in my daughter's baby book and found her birth certificate. I looked inside and notice that they had stamped her feet in it after she was born. Awww.

My baby book came with a special little "clean" stamp pad where you press the baby's foot onto the top of the pad, which is covered in plastic, and it makes the print on the paper below.

In looking at the prints I had made of my baby's feet, and the ones done in the hospital, I noticed something strange.

They are nothing alike.

Those footprints on my child's birth certificate? Not my child's feet.

See for yourself. They are not the same. Totally not the same. Not to mention the fact that the ones taken two weeks earlier are bigger. Huh.

Do I do or say something about it? The small print on the bottom of the page says that they are not a legal document and are a memento. Ok, sure, but not a memento of my kid.

Andy says that they did it right in the birthing room. Apparently, after they took the card away, they filled out some other kids' info on it.

WHAT?!?!?!

Could it be that her arches became more firm or something? Newborns are so floppy and squishy... or, or, or...

yeah, I got nothin'

That sucks!

That is crazy! Maybe you (or they) pressed harder?
Wow, that is strange :P

No,really. I don't know if you can open them side by side, but they are completely not the same feet. The lines are totally different. To. Tally. Not my kid. :)

My spidey senses are tingling.

They don't look alike. I'd prob be omitting those from the baby book :)

HA! Carbon, that's a good idea...

"Well, honey, we really THINK
you're our daughter, but we can't quite be sure."

We have one of those "clean" ink pad things. Jess did one and I did one and they came out completely different. I don't know if we kept hers, but if I can find that one I'll show you the two side by side. It may make you feel better.

Different as in, her toes look funny, or different as in, the lines are in completely different places? Because I have a few that turned out pretty strangely that I did as well, but you know they're the same feet.

ok...well her feet may be someone else's but her face scream andy and anne. she is definitely your kid.

and besides, baby feet are fat and wrinkley. they've been in water for 9 monhts. she was proably just pruney. :o)

Very weird. Not to mention rude. Humph.

At least you noticed! And you can avoid putting the hoax prints in your album!

Maybe they actually have a "baby foot" stamp that they just put on everyone's certificates by default! :-) (Just kidding.)

Okay - this is pretty funny! And even funnier to think of you going through the process, doing the new stamps and looking at them going "huh, those aren't the same at all."

you do have the right child, don't you? :)

That's crazy. I would keep them in the baby book - it makes for a great story (and a teasing tactic later in life that you just might need some day).
