Bad Kitty Mommy

I think it partly has to do with the fact that it is spring. And how everyone wants to play outside.

Calico Kitty has become an Expert escape artist. White Fluffy Kitty used to be the Queen of this gift but has apparently passed the scepter.

This morning we were not greeted by anyone. No sweet rubs around the ankle, no good morning nuzzle, no howling of hunger.

The situation was highly surprising as we slept in quite late after staying up watching movies late last night. The common occurrence is for the meowing to commence as soon as our feet hit the floor. Something obviously wasn't quite right in kitty land.

We stumbled downstairs to feed them and make ourselves coffee when I realize that there is a kitty missing. Hmm.

"I think there is a kitty missing," I say.

We look in every room, behind every door but no sweet kitty face appears. The last resort is to look outside. How could she possibly get outside? Besides, it's yucky and rainy and has been thundering all night.

I'll check just in case. I poke my head out onto the back porch in case she got stuck out there when I hear the cries. Sad, plaintive cries. Wet, terrified cries. I had to call several times before I could coax her out from under the car.

Dirty, wet, and scared to death, she gets carried shaking into the house.

She gets a bath and a blow dry and brush down but she's still going to be licking herself dry for hours. My poor, sweet girl has had a terrifying outdoor adventure and I am wracked with guilt over being such a bad kitty mommy to have let her go through it.

Kitty is going to get extra treats and snuggles today. Maybe even a bit of tuna.

Sarah, it WAS traumatic!! :(

And Stacey...kitties don't learn lessons...they really don't. Sigh.

Glad she's found safe and sound! You might get the cold shoulder for a while, but it's not your fault!

hehe, maybe the squireels in your roof finally tunneled their way through and made an esape hatch for the kitties! (horror!)

But yep, that picture IS pretty funny!!!

Actually, we're getting WAY more snuggles...As much as they hate the baths, I think it is soothing to them to be rubbed down and held so much...My lap is her favorite place now. :)

I don't think I would come out alive if I tried to give Flora a bath.

As much as I love her, it puts a chill in my soul to think of attempting that.

It's funny, Sarah, but as much as they hate it and cry and struggle, they seem to love you so much more afterwards...like you saved them from the awful bath even though you caused it. Kitties aren't really too bright. :)

Anne, It will be interesting to see how you might react in the future if one of your kids gets out all night. LOL!!!

Oh, Cheri, you don't even know...I've already had to deal with this kind of thing!! We babysat for kids of friends and they had several boys...needless to say...Geez!

Poor Kitty! I bet she keeps herself inside for a couple of days, at least while she recovers from the trauma. My cat (rest his soul) used to escape - - and the only way to coax him back inside was to shake his treat can!

Just a wee comment on a sunny Tuesday afternoon! I was procrastinat... er, doing some personality research after school today in the form of a "what flower are you?" quiz, and it asked about the number of books I had in my house. It made me think of you (I had to laugh that the top option was 100), so I thought I'd pop by and say hello! Give the kitties and extra pet for me! :)

A hundred? PSSSHHH...why even bother!?
