Chocolate

I love chocolate in every shape and form. In every recipe, over every pastry, everything. I've never met a chocolate cheesecake I didn't love. I love it hot, I love it cold, I love it lukewarm. I'll eat it melted right off my fingertips...or yours for that matter. I'm not shy.

One of my new favorite finds is Cadbury Drinking Chocolate. Every morning and evening in Africa, it was provided for us along with hot milk and hot water. It's not the same as Swiss Miss, which I love and drink plenty of each winter. It has a different taste entirely. And I don't know that Cadbury is necessarily better, but it has a taste of nostalgia mixed in. It tastes like late nights over cards and sweet conversation. It tastes like a fresh morning of high expectations. It tastes like hope, growth, flowers, construction. But maybe that's just me.

And I brought some back home with me. Three small containers that must be carefully rationed. What do I do when the nostalgia runs out?

I have seen this drinking chocolate at stores that sell British foods. If there are no such places in your area, I could mail you some. :)

I have heard that there are stores around that have it. I just haven't found them yet! But I will be sure to let you know...you are too sweet.

BTW, when are you visiting? We could correlate w/ Michael & Lizzie who have both PROMISED to visit this year!

Don't worry, the memory will linger long. In life's journey some things are meant to be with us always and others are experiences of emotion that are not unimportant, but rationed for reason.

Yummy! Hmm... perhaps I'll have to go on a hunt for some of this, too! The way you describe it is great! I love how some tastes are so much more than just that.

I had a chocolatey evening last night with a friend - I finally bought a tea ball to make the chololate tea taht I bought in Nice this summer, AND I have discovered the. best. ice cream. EVER. It's Hagen Daas "Mayan Chocolate." It's rich yummy chololate ice cream with fudge swirls and CINNAMON.

In case you needed an excuse for more chocolate! :D

They sell it in the British food section of Meijer...or when we get back from Oz..we could just get you some there !!!

Good to know, Dan...but Simon might have a better deal in Oz.

And drifter is right...I think that is the point for senses and memory triggers. A smell that still reminds me of high school, a sound that makes me think of a friend, drinking chocolate that brings Africa to mind...

Or for $9.99 there's some artisan drinking chocolate at D&W that is 76% cacao...I took it off the shelf...I put it back on the shelf...I took it off and read the label...I put it back...I thought about how wonderful it would taste and counted the calories...I looked at the price and realized it's not something I could/would share with 3/5 of my family and decided it was a selfish splurge and put it back on the shelf again. Someone else can enjoy it oh my behalf....

Cheeks, that sounds heavenly. But $9.99 is rather steep...Hmm, maybe it would be a good buy for the next P&P party? What do you say?

Or the next sewing sircle. :)

Oh, I would soooo love to go with you!! When are you guys going again? I promise to stow away in your bags! And you need a nanny, right?! Or at least a best friend to tag along to play with you!?

I'd like to say very soon, but can't. :( You'd fit just right in Ed's big green bag. Or we could take a road trip to Toronto or somewhere in Canada as that would probably be cheaper and less time...They'd have to have Cadbury drink over there. you think??

I'm sure they do, actually!! And whenver talks for NI come up, you just let me know...
