The Smell of Burnt Fur

Still lingers in the air. It's one of those things I've always said would happen. And it did. Clara got her tail too close to a candle and you hear the crackle at the same time you smell the smoke.

It's hard to laugh and trim a tail at the same time.

In other news, we are in the process of getting rid of a cat. It's very sad. Well, no, I take that back. I'm past sad. At the moment, I'm still just angry. We have tried pretty much every training trick in the book, including a pet psychic (yes, it's truly true) nd this morning I cleaned up four spots. FOUR! I cannot have a cat who refuses to use the litter box. I have sacrificed for this cat. I have loved him and fed him and taken him to the vet. I have brushed him and given him treats and scratched him under his chin. But he refuses to reciprocate. Oh, he'll have you believe that he's sweet and innocent and snuggly. But under that furry, cute exterior is a heart of stone. A heart that loves only to pee in the corner.

And so, he must go. Away from my house. To a barn where he can chase mice and eat grass and do whatever he wants to his little stoney heart's content. My heart is stone now also.

should have fun in that barn

That's the problem...I haven't found him a barn yet.

That is sad about the cat. I wonder why he won't pee in the box?

anne said...

Well, he will sometimes. But often wherever he feels like it. He does both.

That is so strange. How sad! Hopefully the barn will be a better place for him.

I have never heard of an anti-litter box kitty. Strange. But also, I have never owned a cat. I did kitty sit last week, and I have to say, I am beginning to prefer the feline over the canine, if only because the little pooch I was watching did exactly what your kitty was doing. Only he did a number two! in the corner.

Yeah. Ewh, is right. ;)

Oh Clara. She just couldn't resist could she? :)

Oh IGGY!! Maybe he told the psychic wrong...that he really DID want to go to a barn.. :)

If the vet says the cat is ok, then he's obviously having some sort of issue with the litterbox (smell, amount of litter, kind of litter? who knows) or he's just being territorial by peeing everywhere. Hmmm. I'd be frustrated too.

Poor Clara. And darn that Iggy!

If you see Jordan tonight (I think he should be at practice) you can ask him if Iggy could go live at his parent's barn. It's a very happy little farm--he'd have 11 year-old Hannah to play with and lots of alpacas to scare.

Anne,

So, um, hi! Officially I am saying hi on your blog now. I've got nothing to say on this particular post, but if you post about Catalyst, I'll be all over that one!!! :)

See you around sometime soon, I hope!

So sorry about Iggy!! That seems like a sudden and strange turn of events considering how long you've had him...

I'm curious about your litter box, mostly b/c Cory says that Andy only cleans it once a week and therefore he only needs to clean ours once a week.

I think it should be cleaned every other day, but since I'm not cleaning it, that's not happening :) So, is it true? If so, maybe Iggy is protesting a dirty box...

OH Shelly, you have to tell Cory that Andy has mended his ways. We had a sit-down a few months ago and the litter box DOES get cleaned out every other day now. It is VERY important! He can't blame it on Andy anymore... ;)

However, according to his psychic, his problem stems back to other problems...

I didn't think that was okay. Given how neurotic cats are, that'd be like making MONK use a gas station bathroom everytime he went to the bathroom.

So was this a local pet psychic? Or was it a pet psychologist. I'm pretty sure there's a big difference...

Really, psychic. She is in IL and "chats" with him from there...

I think a psychologist would be in the room with him and "chat" with him that way.

Who knows. Who am I to say one way or another? All I know is I'm waiting for her to talk to the girls now, too! :)
