This is the Hall *Updated*

And I love the new paint. Sure, it may not look very interesting to you, but the walls are a fresh, new color and the table is re stained.

Now, I have that nice little pot with a plant in it and the fabulous red ceramic vase sitting on the table. But I'm not convinced that it is the perfect arrangement. First of all, there are always supposed to be an odd number of items together and secondly, it just doesn't completely do it for me.

I need a suggestion for the perfect little table arrangement. Any item you've seen that should go here? Or something that has been floating around the net that I just have to pick up to make the perfect ensemble?

Thanks,

Waiting for Inspiration

*Update*

Ok, so here is the key hook. It's new and really cute and I actually got it for free b/c the engraving was done really badly so they refunded me...but I didn't need to send it back!

Anyway, I don't need the table for keys. The table is purely decorative at this juncture. It's not big enough for coats or much, really.

This is the hallway from another angle. Sticks I love, but I've already got 'em.

Oh, and do you like my new curtain? You can see it hanging there. It's supposed to be a Roman Shade, but I haven't sewn the rings or pulleys onto it yet, so it's just a shade.

Your suggestions and ideas have been fabulous, really. But I have already done all those things. Oh, and there's a mirror to the right of the table on the door that you can't see. So I have that too...

Now you see why I'm at a loss!?

Hmmm.... maybe put the red pot in the corner (to the right of the table) and buy some really tall, narrow twigs (with dark bark, can you picture what I mean?) to put in it. I don't know how big the opening is, but that could look kinda neat. Maybe? Then you'd complete the "odd number" rule (which, by the way, I'd never heard of, but it makes total sense).

Love the green on the walls, by the way!

I'd put the pot on the table by itself. Or maybe find a smaller one to put some type of leafy material of some sort in it. Or maybe a little cute lamp (battery operated since there's no outlet nearby) or maybe a big candle in a vase?

I really do like the color. It makes the wood pop right out.

I personally prefer plants, and think something that hung down over the edge of the table would look cool. But then again I'm a guy, and once decorated an apartment with empty liquor bottles.

I am sooooo LOVING the red stained wood. I'm very envious and wish to have itin my home right now. Plus, you are my type of gal cuz I got that green in my dining room and kitchen (goes good with the red in my place too)

Let me see, I would either put the big red vase on the ground in the corner with some twigs as hillary mentions or put it on the bottom shelf, then have the potted plant, the dish and a small little basket for your keys or mail on the top shelf arranged on the top shelf. Or you could buy a bigger basket on the bottom for hats, mitts and scarves. Or how about an umbrella stand in the corner... or a mirror hanging on the right side of the wall...

sheesh, I could go on and on (which I quite obviously have done :) ) but it also looks very good on it's own too, just so you know :)

Yes, 3's and 5's... a big must in the design world.

Love the paint! Table looks awesome! Like Hillary's suggestion. Have eschewed the use of the first person pronoun tonight, due to total lack of energy.

A mirror on the wall would be nice, too. Or a candle on the table. Or a sconce. (on the wall.)

Hi, Anne.

I've been collecting small antique hammered aluminum trays during the past year or two... you can find some really beautiful ones. I like simple ones, with a tiny pattern hammered in. They are pretty inexpensive (mine were all less than 20 bucks), and just gorgeous!

Here is a link... these trays aren't very pretty, but you'll get the picture. They're pretty easy to find in antique shops, as well!!

Anne, Hobby Lobby's ceramic pottery is on sale, you could get some smaller jars to go with you red one. I just purchased two in very cool shapes, one a sand color and the other kind of a sagey green. You should difinitely check it out.

No real suggestions except maybe a picture or something. I love having lots of family photos around in funky or classic frames.

Anyway, love the color! It really looks nice!

I like that color!

Oooh, oooh. I know! You can set your bong on the table. Yeahhhhh mannnnnn.

It's so interesting that everyone has an opinion on this--my my!

I'm all about function, then making sure that aesthetic graces the pragmaticism. What do you use the hall and table for? Keys? Coats? Shoes? Umbrellas? Go from there...

Thanks! :) They add a warmth to the hall now when the light shines through. I love it! Way better than those ol' mini blinds!
