In the Meanwhile...

We got our Christmas lights up!!

I know, it's only November. I can hardly believe it's November. But Monday was a very warm day and I would much rather get them all hung up before my roof freezes and I am more likely to slide right off.

We still need to buy a couple more strands to make it all the way around, as well as a few for the porch railing. But it's one good fall job down and very few left to go! All the flowers are in, the gardens are cleared. I think all I really have to do is rake the leaves over the gardens and put a bit more dirt on top for some good mulching.

I'm trying to rig the votes on our car-naming-poll. To get the one we want to win. I mean, I'm not going to call my car something that I don't like, right? So, we're trying to rig it. Except that I set it up so that you can only vote once. If you haven't voted yet, be sure to vote for one we like, ok?

It's supposed to snow tomorrow. I think I would really prefer it didn't. But winter is coming and it must be embraced. Gloves, hats and sweaters must be worn. Boots must be pulled out, shovels must be by the door, and our breath will freeze. Monday I planted several pots worth of tulip and hyacinth bulbs. To wait quietly in the cold basement. To be brought up in the middle of winter, when there are no flowers to be found. They will brighten the house. They will give me a bright spot to make it through to the end of the cold season. I am hunkering down, burrowing in.

Maybe I should live in California.

WELL! If you wanna rig it, I have an entire computer lab at my disposal, heh heh. You jsut have to tell me which one you want to win, and I have vote up to 30 times for ya! ;)

Ah, the funness of it all. I had a contest to name MY new car, too, but I just too suggestions and picked the one I liked.

OH NO! I should have suggested Remmington Steele! I did'nt think it was quite appropriate for my little civic, but maybe for a bigger car... oh well.

um, I mean, I CAN vote up to 30 times for you. Sheesh. Learn to proofread, will ya, Hillary?

You are way too on top of the whole Christmas light thing. Unless of course what you really meant to say is that you never even took them down last year.

It's snowing right now, so the weatherman was actually right for today.

I'm hoping for one more nice day that I can go put up lights so my fingers don't fall off (or Ed's fingers). :)

Or you could join us down here in SC...and still be enjoying (or enduring) 80 degree weather...the other day I went to meet the hubby for lunch and it was so warm that I wore sandals, capris and a tank top. Doesn't seem right to be doing the first of November! I definitely miss the cold, but hubby is enjoying the warm...as long as our next station gets me to see a little snow, I won't complain now! We can still at least take a bike ride. And I don't think I'll have to worry about hanging Christmas lights in cold weather...even if I wait until Christmas Eve!!

Christmas lights?! Snow?!

I feel my covet coming on.

Thanks for making me break a commandment, Anne! :)

Lights? That's just crazy talk! I wish I could think about happy things, like Christmas lights - but our 100 year old freakin' maple tree is threatening to take out our house, and the houses next door!

(You better have a picture of the lighting fiasco for us soon!)

...And, which name are you gunning for?!

Updated to add pictures!! :)

Hills, I do love Rem Steele. Good suggestion...Nuts. :) No worries about your spellchecking abilities, I too wish you could go back and edit comments sometimes!

Ok, Porty, you caught me. But I only left up HALF of the lights last year. And the work I did on Monday was putting up the rest and realigning the current ones. Really, you can hardly tell they're up there all the time. White blends well with white trim. :) But thanks for calling me out on that. Jerk.

Jean--it's supposed to be 50s this weekend...keep those fingers crossed!

Becky, that's totally not fair. Can you send a little of your sunshine up here and we'll trade with some snow?

Sorry Heaths! But I suppose I covet your weather sometimes too...and Margaret.

Kat that sounds scary! Are you going to have someone come cut that down or what?

What name? Well, I can't give that away, now can I? ;)

You could go to SC with Becky.. or here in AR would work too! Sunny and 65 today, and it was in the 80's last week. Definitely doesn't seem very fall-like at all. The leaves are JUST starting to change now. We are gonna drive up through some of the Ozarks next weekend to look at all the pretty colors on our way up to the Razorback game. I love fall :)

That's just crazy, Shawn...

I do like the snow. It's just that around February, I'm rather tired of it all. We may be going down to Florida sometime this winter to get some sunshine. Maybe a stop in SC? You could meet us there!!

Definitely stop by SC!!! We didn't have any leave approved for the holidays so we're housebound. Brandon's family will be coming around the New Year and Lindsey and Dave should be stopping by on their way to NY from Miami for a few days, but other than that, we don't have any plans for the "winter!" You could be our first non-family overnight guests!! We'd love to have you! Will have to do something about getting a bed big enough for your hubby, though! :)

Sounds great! Then we could drive down and it wouldn't feel like quite so much of a long haul...I will definitely look into it! We just have to get Shawn & Katie to come too...

Woah. You are way too organized. I am still struggling with letting go of my halloween costume. I was tempted to put it on last night adn do laundry.

SC would be great! Too bad it is nowhere near AR :( It would probably be about a 12-14hr drive. But hey, you could always go a different route on your way back and swing over this way.. we have plenty of guest room as well.. even for Andy! :) And we are about 6-8hrs northwest of the Panhandle.
Hey, any chance ya'll are gonna be around NY for Christmas? We are gonna be in Jamestown from the 23rd-30th.

I had a meeting today discussing what we were going to do for our Christmas Eve services at church (where I work) and the room we met in was all decorated and fun. And it was snowing outside. I'm not used to feeling Christmasy in November...

Don't worry, I won't decorate the house until at least after Thanksgiving!!

And no, Shawn, I don't think we will. We always have to stay around the church for Christmas. It's possible we might come home after...so perchance before the 30th...just keep one night open for us! :)

You can visit. You can't move. I'll chain myself to your front door and back door (I'm Elastagirl you know) so you can't leave. Visit yes. Leave. No.

Ok, fine. You know I'd miss the snow anyway... :) And my sweet Jean. I'd miss her terribly!

It doesn't snow 'round my neck of the woods and sometimes I wish it would. Though people who actually deal with a snow-filled winter say I'd get tired of the snow in about 3 days. Whatever, I'm still envious you'll be getting snow. I imagine during the heart of winter you and all your neighbors ski and snowboard to work and the store and etc.

I live in California and I don't get to snowboard to work. See, California isn't perfect. Lol.

Great Xmas Lighting Pics!
