All I want first thing in the morning is my very own perfectly-brewed-by-my-hubby cup of coffee.
Is that really so much to ask? I think not.
This morning we were running a bit late so I started getting the coffee ready. Scooped out the perfect amount into the filter. I was getting out the creamer from the fridge when hubby came down and put the filter into the pot with the water and set it going. He confirmed that I had scooped exactly the right amount. We are both picky about our coffee and I always affirm that he makes it the best.
But alas, tragedy struck our kitchen this morning.* The coffee filter folded over itself. The brew came out practically clear. Sigh. We both had to take in coffee mugs with just creamer in them this morning.
Work coffee isn't so bad. But I was so looking forward to the perfectly-brewed-by-my-hubby cup of coffee.
*In the grand scheme of things, bad coffee isn't really a tragedy. A friend had a horribly fire in her kitchen this weekend, countries are at war with one another, and children are starving to death. I don't want to lighten any of those things. And I really don't feel all that sorry for myself. Just trying to use interesting word analogies, I guess. Just trying to lighten life so that we can laugh at our small irritations and put things in perspective.
Love to all on this gloomy Monday. Quick, somebody cheer me up!

who had a fire? That's not good....
yes..we do have it pretty good in our little world of life here huh?
Thank God for a someone (hubby) to grimmace over Monday morning times with. Fires, war, starving, no cute shoes to match the dress - sigh, sharing it is the bottom line.
Anon---very true. Makes me feel better when he suffers too. Wait, that didn't sound good...
Jean--Crisi!! She practically burned the whole kitchen down. Fridge, stove, micro, walls. Very sad. I was thinking about asking you about figuring out a few food drops for them?
i agree with your grand scheme of things thought, but in our own small worlds coffee issues are monumental...!
You are so right.
It's almost time for the afternoon coffee...
Yeah- I'd take your coffee issues anyday over my weekend. We had a torrential downpour on Saturday, and even after the downpour it still rained steady the rest of the day. Well, the master bedroom got flooded because of it. I had water squishing up through the carpeting all along the outside wall of the bedroom :( The padding and carpeting are soaked from the outside wall almost to the middle of the room! So I have pulled up most of the carpet and have fans on the padding to get it started drying but the house is beginning to smell anyway. Thankfully it is a rental and the office is sending a crew out this afternoon to take care of it. But still- what a weekend and great start to the week! :P
Ugh, Shawn, that sucks!! Good thing it's a rental. Is there a basement? That just seems crazy that it would flood the bedroom so much!
Hope it gets fixed soon!
ps...have some more coffee!
WOW!!! Definitely! I'm all up for planning meals. We can chat some more tonight. She has two already. You and me :)
That's what I figured. I noticed her talking to Laura B. yesterday too, so that would be someone who would totally be up for it.
Or we could have a big dinner at your or my place and get them out of their house one night too.
Me and the hubby have "fights" over our coffee in the morning. He thinks I make it too weak and I think he makes it too strong. It looks like TAR and tastes like it too!
My wonderful sister-in-law does the same. She mocks us for our drinking of the "wussy" sugar-laden coffee! :)
bad coffee can set the tone for an entire day...in fact, it is over coffee that we talk about such weighty subjects...and perhaps provide clarity in which to face difficult topics.
Never belittle the coffee :)
Thanks Kass!! YOu are sooo right!
In fact, I am enjoying a splendid cup of brew right now and that along with your cheery comment has started off my Tuesday on a wonderful note!
No- no basement. It just sits on a concrete slab. Most houses down here don't have basements actually. It's kinda weird. So the floor of the house is pretty much exactly even with the ground. Makes it too easy for water to get in. But anyway, a cleaning crew came yesterday and sucked out all the water, steam cleaned the room, and sprayed for mold and such, so everything is pretty much better now. I still have a fan on it to finish drying it, but I think I can actually put the bedroom back together tonight. But that's only if I have time after going to the Cingular store tonight to get Katie a new cell phone cause she dropped hers in the toilet yesterday... if it's not one thing, it's another... sigh..
You totally had a case of the Mondays, Shawn, didn't you!? Oh man...well, at least getting a new phone is kind of fun. :)
Hope the place dries out soon! What a pain.
