I'm not a big fan right now of the IRS. Not a big fan of taxes: paying them, reporting them, keeping track of them. I do it. I am honest about it. But I don't like it.
Yesterday I was. But that was before I did my taxes. And the Man has stuck it to us this year. Last year wasn't so bad, but one of the places I worked this year computed my taxes incorrectly and took none out of my paycheck for the whole year. NONE! How did I not notice this?!
I checked my most recent stub and some was taken out but it still doesn't seem right. I am really good at budgeting and getting our accounting done well. But apparently I have not been very attentive.
Granted, it's a matter of the government not having as much of my money to invest throughout the year and all that. And at least I don't have to pay any in this year. But I still always get so excited at tax time to see how much money I get back.
It doesn't help that we have changed our tax bracket due to my holding two jobs. So I am trying to have a good attitude about it. I wish I was one of those people who refused to pay their taxes. But I'm definitely not brave enough for that kind of sillines.
But it's done and taken care of for this year. I still have to get my city taxes filed, but that's not a big deal. The hard stuff is done and over with.

Anne, I am very glad that you take paying your taxes so seriously. I am a bit suspicious when people say how honest they are about taxes, but I'm sure you are honest. I can tell. I'm sure when I do the audit of your taxes I'll find all in order. Of course I'll probably have to review your last five year returns. So why don't you go ahead and get the reciepts organized. See you soon. Oh yeh, I wanted to remind you that we have on our IRS website many wonderful publications you can read. And best of all they are free!!! I have five big bookshelves of free tax publications at my home. I start each day with a dip into the exciting world of taxation.
We are VERY honest but only cause were scared. The IRS are scary people in ugly suits. :0)
NOT paying your taxes while rewarding momentarily is never good in the long run, ask my father-in-law. 10 years later he is still paying it off. Not the best move on his part.
I hate tax season cause it makes me nervous but we did pretty good this year, but it's only because are taxes are simple.
Hope things turn out okay.
I cannot imagine reading tax publications for fun....but then my husband reads instruction manuals for most of his recording stuff just for the heck of it...
And I also too scared to not be honest on my taxes. Despite the morality of it and knowing I couldn't live with myself even if I never got audited and no one ever knew.
Neither am I
anne - where have you been this week?! did the IRS really swallow you up? :)
I could ask you the same thing...
Ok...I'll get on the stick...
