Speaking of it almost being spring...

I bought about 20 packets of seeds last night! And a seed starter. This will make me feel like it is almost time to plant. Which it is for some flowers. But I really need to wait about a month before starting most of my veggies. But now I can basically start at any time I so desire. Regardless of the weather.

Should I get a florescent plant light? Hmmm. I wonder how much those are and if that would be valuable to my seed starting health.

I have a plant window in my kitchen. It's one of my favorite things in my house. Two big shelves of glass, surrounded by glass and looking out onto my backyard garden. But whoever installed this lovely window did not consider the fact that this side of the house gets very little direct sunlight. In fact, I probably get about 3 hours of direct sunlight on only one small side of my window a day. There is a lot of general light and my plants do get more light than if they were elsewhere in my house, but I often wonder if they get enough.

Maybe I'll looking into getting one of those artificial lights.

Anyway, I'll be planting these tomorrow. I can't wait. I love planting.

are you going to grow baby sized zuchinni again?

Yes. Yes I am. But I also found a pack of seeds that are for cucumbers that specify for small gardens. I guess they grow more on a bunch than all spread out. If only my melons and zuchinni would cooperate and stay where they are put. Or if I had a bigger garden, maybe they wouldn't grow out onto the grass?

nice!! maybe your whole back yard should become your garden...

I have had that suggested to me before...that and my brother says that I should put in a koi pond. Right.

I like just a little grass. I put all that grass in myself.

i found your blog thru sarah cool...i like gardening too. i have tried starting seeds, i have trouble transitioning them from indoor to outdoor though. this will be my first year with a real yard to put a garden in. i planted bulbs last fall, and was very excited to see them come up a few weeks ago, unfortunately last week i noticed that something is eating the tops off. :( any ideas for getting this to stop? oh, i read lots of blogs at work too. totally addicting. oh well. nice to 'meet' ya!

Kristen--Welcome! :)
When you are planting your baby plants you need to make sure they are big enough and also that they have the right sun/water etc. Better to plant them in the late afternoon, so they won't get scalded their first day in the ground.
Tell me more about your bulbs and maybe I can help you find a way to stop the nibbling!
