A New Renter

I have a new renter moving into our house this weekend. We don't have separate units or anything, but she's going to be living in my spare room. So now I have two renters. And really, neither of them pay me. My brother does the dishes, takes out the trash and mows the lawn in the summer. As well as occasionally buying some of my groceries and painting various basement rooms. The new renter will be cleaning for us as well as painting various bedrooms.

My new renter is a friend I have known for some time. She was actually our landlady a couple years ago. We lived in a house on the first floor and she lived in one of the second floor apartments. Now all of her apartments are full and she doesn't have a place to live! She has been commuting back and forth between the city and another town a good drive away where her parents live. So we volunteered (I don't really remember if she asked or if we had volunteered a while ago. I think it was just understood that we were ok with it) to let her stay at our place for a bit.

It should be a fun and interesting set up. And I cannot tell you how excited I am to have a live-in maid! At least for a little while. I can't wait to be spoiled by not having to clean! I feel like I'm being the selfish one by having her clean even though I know I'm offering my house so she thinks I'm being generous. Not to mention the fact that she's a fun person to have around and hang out with.

She's bringing some of her stuff over tonight and we're going to have to clean out that room pretty quickly! The fact that we have to now organize that room and all of our stuff in it is another bonus. That's one of those rooms that you just keep putting junk in and shut the door so you never have to see it again. A nice room really. But now we have to organize!! Yay for weekend projects!

I am also hoping that she will be good motivation for me to start working out regularly. She is a hard-core runner and goes to the Y almost daily. I know I want to work out/get in shape/be more toned, but I just can't make myself do it. Assumedly, I will be shamed by her commitment! I'll be sure to keep you posted on how that goes...

I told her she should get one of those little skirts/apron... :) I don't think she liked that idea...nor being called "the maid"... :)
